Weekly Fantasy Football Chat (8/16)

Live meetups, group text threads, FUN last place punishments are all good ideas for making it an engaging season. Also, making weekly payouts to most points would be fun/engaging, too.

Because this is a 10-team league, where depth doesn’t matter much, I don’t hate this move. However, I’d much prefer taking Hurts, Tannehill, Herbert, Rodgers, Brady later on.

I think it depends on your team make-up. Are you contending this season? If you are, I could see you declining. However, if you’re probably not in contention for a championship, this trade is solid as you get two really young studs and another 1st.

Is this redraft? If so, I’d immediately trade Pitts plus a WR for a WR stud, hopefully. Kittle is your TE starter every week so you don’t need depth. Dynasty is another question, however.

Is this 1QB? If so, I’d take Diontae Johnson in the 6th. You can get either of those QBs at those prices anyway, or even take another one later on.

What are your thoughts on taking Cam Akers with the last pick in a keeper draft? My thinking is that I can take him low, put him on IR and mark him as a keeper next year at a reduced cost (7th Rd pick next year would be the highest cost)

I think Chubb and Hunt work great together, but hurt each other’s fantasy ceiling if both are available. I think Chubb is a Round 2 player for me, all things held equal, in most leagues. I think Ridley will ball out this season with Jones gone, so I expect top 5 numbers from him this season. I avoid taking QBs early, so I would generally avoid Murray at the 2/3 unless there really isn’t much else available or your team is already stacked.

Is this a 1QB league? If so, do not take Mahomes early. Even if he balls out, he probably won’t return the value you need for such a steep cost at a deep position. I, honestly, don’t even think about taking a QB until the 8th+ rounds, unless an elite option falls considerably.

I think stacking your team at FLEX positions and getting Tannehill late, in a 1QB league, is GREAT for you! Don’t worry about Ks or DSTs, as those are match-up/random-based anyway.

It’s a 8 team league. I have:

QB Tannehill

RB CMC, A.Jones, Montgomery, Carter, R. Jones

WR J.Jones, DJ Moore, Chark, D. SMITH, Mooney, Bateman

TE Kittle and Smith

Generally speaking, I’d prefer Waller > Allen > Carson >= Lamb in a redraft/keeper league. Waller is a game-changer for fantasy and you already have two solid RBs. If you can start more than 3 RBs, however, then Carson becomes more appealing.

Would you punt and opt for QB later on like TB12 or Tannehill and which one would you chose of those two this year?

And if Murray falls to round 5 do you snap him up instead of punting till later rounds?

I think Kelce and Waller are still great values, but not as much so without the TE discrepancy. I think Kelce falls to a mid-2nd rounders, while Waller should be a late-3rd-to-mid-4th, I’d imagine.

It appears like McKissic will remain as the 3rd-down back for WFT, so the hopes of Gibson finishing as a top 5 RB this season should be restrained. I’d narrowly lean Harris with what we currently know; however, if we see WFT move more toward using Gibson as a bellcow, he will easily be my choice.

Generally speaking, I love targeting Kelce + RB if you can. Probably an elite RB in the 1st and then Kelce/Waller/Kittle, unless someone elite falls, to you in the 2nd. Be ready to zag if others zig.

In redraft, I have Jones > Ekeler > JT for 0.5 PPR.

Generally speaking, I’d go Kelce and then the top RB available, unless someone elite falls (i.e., Hill or Adams). 10-team leagues are all about elite players, depth doesn’t matter, so getting that elite TE differentiator is key.

What do you guys think about drafting an entire receiving core? For instance your first two receivers can be in the top two tiers but then draft three receivers from a single team such as the three big from Steelers or Bengals?

12 team half ppr Keeper league, 9th round keeper Tee Higgins or Justin Herbert?

Thank you Jared for your response.
It is a 1QB league. So for round 1 pick 5 would you take (if available) Jones, hill, cook, Hopkins, Chubb, AJ Brown, Barkley, Elliot, Kelce… I’m going to ASSUME and make an ass out of myself that cook, hill and Kelce will be off the board. Who would you target if any.
