Hey Dan!

Thoughts on Shane-o-Mac (McClanahan)? How soon do you see him going longer than 4 innings? Thanks!

Is it better to have more pitchers on the bench or more batters?

I would trade Means for either Machado or Bryant regardless of your situation, so I’d go that route. Love Means, think he’s legitimate, but not equal value to those dudes. But I’ll note it does sound like a short-term thing for Rendon, so I wouldn’t be too concerned about it. So if you love Means and you want to hold him, you can ride it out with Candelario or some other replacement-level player.

Thanks! And forgot to include Soroka, where would he fit in there?

Hey Dan,

First off. Love your work. In a keeper league with 4 year contract in the round the player was drafted. Should I trade Jazz Chisholm in the 10th for Wander Franco in the 11th? Both with 3 years remaining.

I’m assuming you are in a redraft league? If so, I am dealing Sixto for anything right now. I don’t think he’s a future number 1 or 2 starter, but more like a 3/4, and one who is still weeks away. That’s a lot of time for some setbacks. And I know a “strained shoulder,” sounds minor, but shoulder injuries are the worst and most difficult to assess for a pitcher, far more complex than elbow injuries. I’m hopeful for the best but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. So, any player with remotely decent value? I’d swap, personally.

This is about as big of a no as I will give. Hold on, checking to see if I can increase the font size. . . Shoot, can’t. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO That works for me. Peralta isn’t in the same zip code as those guys for me.

Meh, I’m fine to trade Tucker for an ace, but I have little concern about him going forward. And with your roster, unless you have speed covered elsewhere, kind of tough to lose Tucker. So, really, it’s personal preference, but I’d only do it for a top-15 arm or so.

Yeah, Gallo doesn’t have a ton of value in a points league, but since you need to clear a spot, your best bet would be to do a 2-for-1, and maybe add in a pitcher with Gallo or something. He would be the guy I want to deal though of those options, though France isn’t too far behind. So, if your pitching is strong, I’d try to package a pitcher with Gallo or France for an upgrade on offense, and clear the spot for Kelenic, who I HOPE WILL BE UP SOON. Though, as a Mets fan, I have no idea who Kelenic is and never heard of him and he was never part of our organization.

What are the chances that Alex Colome regains his closer role?

I’m assuming it’s a dynasty league? Or at least a keeper league for a few years? Assuming so, I’m definitely good with it. Devers is the best player in the deal long-term and would prefer that side.

I think Kelenic should be pretty soon, actually. I think before the end of the month. And although it’s always tough to project a minor leaguer in his first call-up (see Trout, Mike), Kelenic is like a Kyle Tucker-lite to me (the good kind). He’ll offer a full-season line of 20-25 homers, 10-15 steals, not a huge help in batting average.

Wander is a stud but I have zero clue as to when he’s coming. Best guess is late-June, early July. He’s super polished, and for a comp . . . I’d probably go with someone like Michael Brantley at first. Long-term, I mean, he’s an eventual first-round pick in my mind absent injury.

Hi Dan,
Is it time to drop Gary Sanchez or do you see him turning it around at some point? Any thoughts on a waiver replacement at C? What is your outlook on Daulton Varsho and his OF/C eligibility as an option?
Thanks
JB

Blurg. I know. He was so hot. He’s not anywhere close to must-own, honestly. There’s potential, we saw it early, but he’s going to get dropped in that order pretty soon. But he’s still walking a lot, his strikeout rate isn’t THAT bad. So I’m hopeful he’ll adjust back to the league. But I’d also have no problem moving on in a 12-teamer.

Sigh, I AM SO SAD. First, let’s wait to hear how serious this is. If you listened to the podcast, you know I’m not optimistic about his return, but I don’t think we have imagine results yet, do we (apologize if they came in this morning - been a busy day!). So, perhaps it’s just a few week thing. If it’s anything more than that, you can probably move on.

When healthy, he’s a 25-10 bat over the course of a full season. The future is bright.

It depends on how low with Yelich. Back injuries are scary. Back injuries when you don’t have a cause for them are even scarier. So, I’m not running out to make offers at the moment.

As for Ohtani, sure, but there’s very little to suggest he’ll stop hitting. He’s got a great bat, he steals. Only sell if it’s really, really high!

Thoughts on Carrasco going on the 60-day IL!??

Gotta do that deal, sir. Look, when you’re trading Buxton, you know you have to understand that this could be entirely real and he could stay healthy the whole season. Everyone is injury prone until he isn’t. We saw it with guys like Giancarlo Stanton, who randomly busted out fully healthy seasons two years in a row.

But Freeman is a monster himself, and even in an absolute best-case scenario for Buxton, he won’t be THAT much more valuable than Freeman. It’s a beautiful sell-high IMO.

Oh, man. Well, Verdugo is back today and Soto is at least active. Harper will be fine and you gotta hold Mondesi. I’m easily cutting Anderson without hesitation and Chisholm if necessary. I’d like to hold Carrasco, though we need to investigate this move to the 60-day IL. But I’d try to hold if I could.

Hey Dan! Love the work you do man. Should I be dropping Jesus Luzardo? Love his stuff but he just isn’t putting it together I think. Now he’s on the IL. I only have 1 IL spot and Voit is in it currently.
