I like Gaskin more if that’s what you’re asking. It might be just this year, but Gaskin has a much cleaner path to a workhorse role. But despite his age he’s still best viewed as a win-now piece since the featured usage is not guaranteed at all beyond '21. I like him best as an RB3.
Watson just feels impossible to gauge his value right now, I imagine it fluctuates wildly draft to draft. I’d probably only have interest if I was rebuilding, just to see if his value appreciates over time.
Rodgers has his own risk in terms of his age. I wouldn’t want to leave my draft relying on either one, but if the draft moves to the point where you’re targeting bench players without much upside, AND if you’re in a win-now spot (Rodgers) then I’d be more comfortable taking him on.
Ridley for me. While we’d always prefer RB keepers, Ridley’s overall production is just well above Dobbins, even when factoring in positional value.
1…06 is a good spot because you’re guaranteed one of Chase, Harris, Etienne, Smith, Waddle, or Pitts. I’d take whoever falls out of that group. If you’re hellbent on securing one of those top 6 and have a favorite, you can always try to use one of your second round picks to move up.
Otherwise, you’re pretty balanced and I would just take best available. Trey Sermon is a personal favorite of mine since Shanny targeted him and that backfield could clear up in another year or two.
If this is a SuperFlex then you definitely need another QB with that first pick.
Pretty easy choice of Jefferson. He’ll have a second-round ADP this summer.
I would do this yes. While it stinks moving down 4 slots, JT’s value over Sanders certainly makes up for it.
I have some Sanders concerns this year. Jalen Hurts’ rushing could affect both his targets and his goal-line presence.
This feels like an even trade that depends on team context. For example, Boyd is far more likely to be a usable fantasy asset for next 5 years. However, his upside is certainly questionable.
Meanwhile, Gaskin could flirt with workhorse usage in '21, but he could be a non-factor as early as the following season.
If you’re looking to win now and need RB help then I would make the swap. Could always flip Gaskin again to get out early if things go well initially.
Hi! I guess it depends on your definition of sleeper. For example, I love Trey Sermon since Shanny traded up for him and that backfield could really clear up in another year or so.
If you’re looking for someone deeper I’d target Rhamondre Stevenson on the Pats. He won’t ever have league-winning upside, but he’s just cheaper than he should be.
Michael Carter is the last one I see as a value. The Jets were a perfect landing spot due to all the opportunity he could receive.
Overall its a weak rookie draft in terms of depth. I’d try and trade up as much as I could this year.
How do you rank the top 8 picks in rookie dynasty draft?
I have the 1.06 and eyeing javonte Williams, smith and whaddle as those seems to be who is gonna be there.
This is a ppr 1QB league.
To confirm, do you mean Justin Jefferson? If that’s the case then I really like this move. He set the record for rookie receiving yards last fall. Plus he was a college star and a first-round pick. That’s what a dynasty superstar looks like.
Meanwhile, Sanders could lose targets and goal-line rushes due to the presence of Jalen Hurts’ rushing abilitiy.
That’s also my guess on who might be there.
My top 6 are Harris, Chase, Etienne, Pitts, Waddle, Smith, and Javonte 7th. It’s tough to say definitively who you should be targeting out of the three you named, but those are the guys to be thinking about.
I’d also add that this year’s rookie draft isn’t all that strong depth wise, so don’t be afraid to trade up if you love one of those top 4.
I think that’s all the questions for now, but I’m going to stick around if anyone has any more.
And remember – reach out on Twitter anytime (@toomuchtuma). It’s baseball-heavy coverage right now, but the NFL content will be coming as the summer moves along.
Thank you for your feedback: Would you say Cole Kmet is a keeper in dynasty?
Definitely Justin Jefferson
With my league being a keeper league and me not having a 1st round pick. I don’t pick until 2.15, 3.1, 3.2
With my roster I need RB I have
Chris Carson
I think these Backs may me available for my picks
Zach Moss
Micheal Carter Jr.
Kenny Gainwell
I’m a big fan of all 3 and after these 3 pick I don’t pick again until the 7th round what do you suggest I was thinking either taking 2 of them if available or taking one of them with a WR like DJ Chark and Trey Lance to pair with Aiyuk. 16 team league with 5 keepers my keepers are
Justin Herbert
Chris Carson
AJ Brown
Bronson Aiyuk
Darius Leonard
Good afternoon everyone!
In my 14 team dynasty keeper league, won the championship last year with this lineup
1QB, PPR, 2FLEX spots
QB: Lamar, Cam, Haskins
RB: Montgomery, Akers, Jeff Wilson, Kenyan Drake
WR: AJ Brown, Terry McLaurin, Amari Cooper, Pittman Jr, Mims, Bowden
TE: Kelce, Thomas, Asiasi
along with Washington’s defense
Coming out of this season, I didn’t feel like the Montgomery production would continue with Fields’ addition to the offense. I worked out a trade for Saquon to trade away Pittman, Montgomery, ‘21 1.13, ‘23 1st. That is a lot of capital but my struggles from the earlier seasons in this league can be associated with not having a clear RB1.
Once I made this trade, I realized I really have no depth at WR or QB so I made a trade to acquire the 2.03 in the draft while keeping my pick at 2.10 (we randomize draft order for playoff and non-playoff teams individually). I do feel like I am putting myself in a bad position at QB though, with only Lamar and Cam. Lance is definitely going to get drafted by the member I traded the 1.13 to, but is it worth it to go for a Zach Wilson at the 2.03? I like some attributes in his game, and I do feel like I won’t have the draft capital the next few years to get that next QB. It’d be great to try to get back into the first but I realistically can’t do that without trading an integral piece of my team away.
I’d appreciate any advice you may have!
Of course! And sorry for this late reply, I got tied up yesterday afternoon.
I guess it depends on how many players are kept in your league. Kmet is interesting as a young TE who could start seeing more receiving work, but there’s also a number of players like him in his range. So Kmet on his own might not stand out as super special to me, but it comes down to the opportunity cost of keeping him.
I’d rank them in the order you have them - Moss, Carter, Gainwell. Since you have Herbert I’d de-emphasize Lance a bit
First of all congrats on your championship! I agree with your D-Mont concerns, so I really like that Saquon trade.
As for the QB situation I often feel as if having “young QBs” gets overvalued in dynasty. Like, of course the young studs are the preferred options, but you’d also be surprised at how easily you can get by with Kirk Cousins / Matt Ryan types. And those guys are sooooo cheap in dynasty over the offseason. The fact you have Lamar, who is one of those young studs, I think you’re mostly set. I’d rather trade for an “older, safe” backup like Cousins than use a second-rounder on Wilson.
Hopefully this helped. Happy to keep talking it through with you. Feel free to reach out on Twitter @toomuchtuma where I might be quicker to respond!
No, don’t do that deal man. As much as I like Smith, I don’t think he’ll ever reach THE WR1 level that Thomas did. You’d be selling far too low on Thomas.
As for Kmet, he’ll be the go-to tight end for Justin Fields when all is said and done. It’s still possible Graham gets cut, but if he doesn’t, Kmet’s breakout will wait another year.
