The offer may look tempting at first, and it’s certainly not unfair. Even if the 1st is a late one.
Still, you’re giving up an elite asset for a bunch of hopefuls and mid-tier players. Nothing I’d ever recommend.
Lance is still completely unproven, and the 49ers say Purdy is their guy.
Cook is unproven, and the Bills added Damien Harris.
Burks is unproven, and won’t see a stable QB situation any time soon.
If you’re lucky, all 3 will go through the roof, and you got yourself a sweet deal. But the much more likely outcome is that all 3 will become afterthoughts, and you gave away Saquon for nothing.
I don’t hate the trade, nor the idea to trade Saquon away. But I’d try to flip him for fewer, but more stable assets.
If you’re giving up Saquon, you’ll need a real RB to replace him, not 3rd down back James Cook. If that 1st round pick is a 1.01 or 1.02, then you could make the deal, assured of getting either Bijan or Gibbs, the only truly safe RB’s in this year’s draft. Otherwise, these deals are losers for you.
