Possible Saquon Trade

I have two trade offers from the same owner. Non-PPR Dynasty league.

Receive:

  • Lance, Trey SFO QB
  • Cook, James BUF RB*
  • Burks, Treylon TEN WR
  • Year 2023 Round 1 Draft Pick from Big Sexy Giant Killers

Give Up:

  • Barkley, Saquon NYG RB

Offer 2

  • Lance, Trey SFO QB
  • Cook, James BUF RB
  • Brown, Marquise ARI WR
  • Year 2023 Round 1 Draft Pick from Big Sexy Giant Killers

Give Up:

  • Barkley, Saquon NYG RB

Here is my current roster
QB Russell Wilson

RB Saquon Barkley, Matt Breida, Jerome Ford, Leonard Fournette, Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson, Jaylen Warren

WR; Davante Adams, Nico Collins, Chirs Godwin, Christian Kirk, Josh Palmer

TE: Evan Engram, Darren Waller

K: Gano, Patterson

DT/ST: Arizona Philly

I feel I can get more from this guy, but I like the Cook and Burks part a lot for the future.

Thanks

What pick are we talking about here?

The offer may look tempting at first, and it’s certainly not unfair. Even if the 1st is a late one.

Still, you’re giving up an elite asset for a bunch of hopefuls and mid-tier players. Nothing I’d ever recommend.

Lance is still completely unproven, and the 49ers say Purdy is their guy.

Cook is unproven, and the Bills added Damien Harris.

Burks is unproven, and won’t see a stable QB situation any time soon.

If you’re lucky, all 3 will go through the roof, and you got yourself a sweet deal. But the much more likely outcome is that all 3 will become afterthoughts, and you gave away Saquon for nothing.

I don’t hate the trade, nor the idea to trade Saquon away. But I’d try to flip him for fewer, but more stable assets.

If you’re giving up Saquon, you’ll need a real RB to replace him, not 3rd down back James Cook. If that 1st round pick is a 1.01 or 1.02, then you could make the deal, assured of getting either Bijan or Gibbs, the only truly safe RB’s in this year’s draft. Otherwise, these deals are losers for you.

The pick would be the 6th pick in this years draft. It is my pick that I traded to this guy for Rhamondre before the season started.

You both have very good assessments. Just trying to decide how to make this team a top 4 instead of .500.

The way to contend vs .500 is by adding play makers, not giving them up.

Sometimes, building a contender takes more than one year. Have patience.
