I was asked to help with a friend’s work fantasy football draft. After checking his league set up I was at a lost on what to do, so I came here hoping for some draft advice.
I’ve only done 8-12 team leagues but this one has 18 team.
The position goes as follows; WR, WR, RB, W/R/T, W/R/T, Q/W/R/T, K, DEF, BN, BN, BN, IR So a QB is not required and is an optional flex.
Scoring is 25 yards per point for passing and 10 yards per point for rushing and receiving.
Seeing this, my instincts is telling me to chase a QB in the first round then prioritize WRs.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I saw the optional QB part. But this isn’t like superflex, where you have one mandatory QB and an optional QB. I would wait until rounds 5 or 6 to draft your first one, and stock up on the best players available in the first 4 rounds.
Remember, if you come out of the draft with only one QB, you’re good.
That’s valid. Doubt i’ll be able to get a QB if I wait till round 5 as this is an 18 team league lol. There’s only 32 QB1s, so my 5th round pick will most likely gonna be a 4th or 5th tier level WR or RB.
I was able to draft Jalen Hurts in the 5th round back in 2022. All you have to do is find a QB who is likely to be available around then.
But you do have a valid point, and you might need to look a round earlier in your league due to the size of it. Some of these names might be available, based on ECR: Lamar Jackson (38), Anthony Richardson (54), C.J. Stroud (57), Joe Burrow (65), Dak Prescott (68), Caleb Williams (91), Trevor Lawrence (103). Unless there is an insane run on QB’s early, all of these guys should be waiting for you in the 4th, and possibly the 5th or later rounds.
